Amanda & Alper met on the bus after riding the same route to school, and years later he dropped down on one knee in the middle of a buzzing summer Pike Place intersection to ask her to be his wife. In natural Seattle Spring fashion the only day we could meet up for the “You Two” session we got caught in a down pour, but that didn’t phase them – I love couples who are game despite the weather. Thanks for taking me on a small walk down memory lane!

Lord Huron at Neumos04.08.13
It’s no big secret that I fill my life with music. And when I find music that fills my heart with inspiration it’s nearly impossible for me to keep quiet about it. Cue Lord Huron, who I had the pleasure of seeing in October both at Barboza and at KEXP when I photographed their wonderful in-studio session. During my travels to Bolivia, Thailand, and Myanmar these melodies were in my arsenal, and they also stay close at home in Seattle. A girl can only hope she’ll be a catalyst to love songs like these one day.
Lord Huron played a sold out show at Neumos to a sing-a-long swaying crowd and I took my post as in-house photographer mixed with fan. If you haven’t gotten lost in day dreams with their music yet I high suggest you trek into the wilderness (woods, beach, or mountains are all acceptable options) and do so. Better yet, catch them live and dream away.

Kimmy & Ryan: Capitol Hill03.09.13
Kimmy & Ryan are getting married in August and after their engagement session I’m even more excited to hang out with these two on their wedding day! We hit up Volunteer Park with their polite sweet pup Daisy, took a happy hour + Stumptown cold brew Time Out at Oddfellows, and visited Elliot Bay Books. Kimmy teared up while telling me how she feels so lucky to marry her best friend – it’s moments like those that make me fall in love with weddings all over again.
Also I have to mentioned Kimmy’s ring – Ryan had it custom made for her with his Grandmother’s diamond. Talk about incredible!
Thanks for the fun times guys, can’t wait to party with you this summer!

Ellie & Kurt: Greenlake02.02.13
Oh man, these two!! Ellie has been a dear friend of mine since we met two years ago working at a wedding venue and instantly clicked . I was so excited to hear that Kurt proposed to her during a trip to New York in November I’m pretty sure I squealed and alarmed anyone in a mile radius. We spent grey Seattle afternoon around Greenlake warming up with coffee, laughter, and chasing the sunset like it was a Twister. Ellie & Kurt: you know that I love you guys. Thanks for having me out to kick off your engagement! August 2014 better come quick.

The Myth, The Man, The Misty at the Neptune Theater01.30.13
One musician that I doubt I’ll ever get tired of photographing live is Father John Misty. He rolled through Seattle performing twice at The Neptune Theater recently and I was at his second show to photograph for the Seattle Weekly. The review only needed one photograph but with FJM’s showmanship I can’t help but share a little extra Misty love.
Read about his “flamboyant, hipster-Elvis-meets-Elton-John-glory” in Keegan Prosser’s review of the show on Seattle Weekly Blog. And if Misty rolls through your town go ahead and drink the Koolaid. Or maybe I should say, the whiskey?
