I’ve been taking my little plastic Holga friend around with me recently, to workshops and beyond. She in return has been delivering light leaks and multiple exposures. Be prepared to see more as the rolls fill up and my heart explodes!

In August I took a trip over the mountains to second shoot for TONHYA KAE at K & G’s wedding. Their ceremony took place at Airfield Estates Winery, and these two were simply sweet in the 100°+ weather. Thanks Tonhya for having me out!

It’s no secret that I am completely blessed by my family, or head over heels in love with my two year old niece. One morning in early October I hopped on a ferry over to Bainbridge Island to snap a Family Session for my sister and her little family at their home-away-from-home. The Paynesville house has been passed down generation to generation and now operates as place of retreat for her extended family.

In August I had the pleasure of second shooting for the wonderful CARLY BISH as she captured Meghann & Josh’s big day. The two love birds had a small marriage ceremony the day before throwing a big party on Capitol Hill with their family and friends. After being together for ten years Meghann & Josh’s love and appreciation for each other was so obvious, I couldn’t keep a smile off my face. Along with Meghann’s amazing sense of humor and warm laugh, it was a perfect combination. Her friends baked a cake for them to cut after a few impromptu heartfelt toasts, and everything flowed so easily without being forced – which is the way I believe every wedding should be. Thanks for bringing me along!

There is a soft spot in my heart for my little Holga. In this day and age of technology the look of toy film cameras can be easily mimicked in seconds with a tap on an iPhone. But something organic and magical happens when you snap the shutter, drop off the film and say a prayer for a natural inconstancy. No formulas or algorithms, just light, plastic, and film. 50% your vision, 50% from this sweet little Chinese beast.
The first image “Ton” is a finalist in Glazer’s Holga contest and will be on display at their rental shop until November 17th!
